As part of the approval of the next academic calendar, the Sindh education department announced the schedule and pattern of annual examinations for primary and secondary classes.
On Tuesday, Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah presided over a meeting of the education department’s steering committee, which made the decision.
There was a meeting that agreed on an academic calendar for the year 2022-23, as well as a schedule for admissions to grades 9 to 12, exams, sports and extra-curricular activities, as well as the dates for winter and summer vacations.
A meeting of the steering committee decided that the exams for 4th to 8th grade would start on May 2. The matriculation board exams would start on May 17 and their results would be announced on July 17.
Exams for the intermediate level will start on June 15.
The chairman of the education boards told the minister that the results would be out in two months.
Another decision made by the authorities was that the exam papers would be 40% MCQs and 60% open-ended.
In a speech at the event, Education Secretary Ghulam Akbar Leghari said that soon, all the boards would get optical mark recognition (OMR) machines and they would also hold training workshops on how to use them.
All schools will be closed from June 1 to July 31, but admissions to high schools will start on July 1 and last until July 31. The new school year is set to start on August 1, according to the people in charge.
College Secretary Syed Khalid Haider Shah said that when the intermediate board results come out, admissions will start.
The winter holidays would start on December 22 and last until December 31, which is when they would be.
